About This Piece

This one is rare, literally. A dark blue natural dyed handwoven cotton featuring a white elephant pattern motif, crafted in an original Dhakai Jamdani weave. Not printed, not embroidered. The motif is woven into the fabric on the loom, which is why it has that dimensional, heirloom feel up close. With a fine 100/150 tread count, the cloth is lighter, cleaner, and more intricate, while still holding a polished fall. But what makes this truly special is the time it demands. This weave moves at roughly 1 to 1.5 meters per 8-hour artisan shift, because larger Jamdani motifs require intense precision and patience, motif by motif. This is the kind of fabric you buy for pieces that matter: a signature kurta, a statement drape, a keepsake garment that stays in the family. And a detail we take seriously: this fabric is woven from start to finish by the same artisan. That continuity is why the weave feels cohesive and why the final cloth has a certain integrity you can’t replicate in segmented production. Limited edition: only 10 meters available. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
